Tire rotation & balancing

The importance of tire rotation and balancing

Regular tire inspections and servicing can help avoid blowouts, slow leaks and flats, as well as premature wear.

Common signs of problems

  • Unbalanced front wheel: vibrations in the steering wheel
  • Unbalanced rear wheel: vibrations in the seat
  • Uneven tire wear

NAPA AUTOPRO tip

Maintain tire life and ensure even wear by rotating all four tires regularly. Balance your wheels after you install a new tire or remount a tire after it’s been removed for a repair. Your certified NAPA AUTOPRO technician is an expert in determining the correct methods for your tires and vehicle.

TIRE ROTATION

Front tires wear more because they are subject to strong forces during turns, especially on front-wheel drive vehicles. Rotating all four tires assures they wear evenly between front and back, and they will last longer.

Tire rotation patterns vary on different vehicles. Your NAPA AUTOPRO technician can perform the correct tire rotation for your vehicle and recommend the timing–usually between 8,000 and 10,000 kilometres.

WHEEL BALANCING

Slight weight differences between the tires can cause a disbalance. That can result in annoying vibrations at speed as the wheels essentially bounce while you drive down the road. Unbalanced tires tend to wear out prematurely.
