Spark plugs

Spark plugs ignite the drive

Spark plugs are crucial to the functioning of your vehicle. They create the electric spark that ignites the compressed air-fuel mixture in an engine cylinder. Proper spark plugs ignite the gas faster. More critically, quality spark plugs enable reliable starts, especially in extreme weather.

Each spark plug must reliably produce millions of sparks and the latest generation spark plugs are manufactured with extremely resistant materials to provide an excellent lifespan.

Signs of a faulty spark plug

After thousands of kilometres, the electrodes where the spark is produced can become covered with dirt or carbon deposits, causing the spark plugs to become less efficient and resulting in increased fuel consumption. Here are some common signs of faulty spark plugs:

  • Hard to start your vehicle
  • Engine misfiring
  • Rough idle
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Slow acceleration

NAPA AUTOPRO tip

During routine maintenance, a certified NAPA AUTOPRO technician can inspect your spark plugs to determine if they need to be cleaned or replaced according to your vehicle’s manufacturer recommendations. Vehicles must be equipped with the type of spark plugs indicated by the manufacturer.

NGK, Bosch, Denso, Autolite or Champion, your certified NAPA AUTOPRO technician can recommend the correct spark plugs for your vehicle whenever they need to be replaced.
