Pimp My Ride!
Owning a car is great, but pimping it is even better! There are tons of accessories out there, if you want to add a personal touch to your car. What’s your style? A Canadiens flag, an “I love my wife” vanity plate, or a pine air freshener on the rearview mirror?
It’s all about personality
Some people will add a flashy colour, eyelashes on the headlights, or their favourite sports team’s flag to make their car stand apart. And why not, if it reflects their personal taste and makes them proud!? Distinctive accessories can also come in pretty handy when you’re trying to find your car in a parking lot!
That said, there are a few technical elements to keep in mind when accessorizing your car. First of all, make sure that the fixture doesn’t leave any permanent marks. Some accessories can scratch the body, and where there’s damage there’s rust. Ditto for adhesives, as some are so strong that the residue they leave behind when you remove them will discolour the finish.
When designing cars, engineers calculate every curve to make the car as aerodynamic as possible. However, adding an accessory to the exterior of your vehicle can cause air resistance or an irritating whistling noise! Even small accessories can increase fuel consumption. The difference is hardly noticeable in the short term but can become considerable in the long run.
If you’re looking for a more subtle way to customize your car, you may want to consider a license plate frame or, if you’re in Quebec, a wider, European-style plate that can be affixed to the front of the vehicle.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! From plastic flowers on the dashboard to tinted windows, the sky’s the limit when it comes to customizing your car. Get inspired!
